Panthers loss on Thursday night helps Vikings

The Panthers got absolutely smoked on Thursday Night Football, falling 52-21 on the road to the Steelers.

(How about that Norv Turner offense?!)

OK, that was uncalled for.

But for Vikings fans, this is good news.

The Panthers fall to 6-3 with the loss. Carolina is still the first Wild Card team and the Vikings are the second, but it tightens things up with the Vikings sitting at 5-3-1.

Right now, the three and four seeds are the Bears and Redskins.

It’s probably too early to look at exact matchups right now, but it’s never too early to cheer against teams in a similar situation as you.

The Vikings have seven games left on their schedule (they are on bye this week), three at home and four on the road. The NFC North should be the goal. They are just percentage points behind the Bears and still play Chicago twice. The Bears have an elite defense, but they still have Mitchell Trubisky playing quarterback.

The second half of the season certainly should be an entertaining one.
